María Medem combines editorial illustration and animated shorts for musicians with creating comics. She publishes these in anthologies and fanzines. After Medem started self-publishing comics, she quickly received critical acclaim as a celebrated author and illustrator. Her mesmerising pages use abstraction, fragmentation and colour to slow down time and make way for a sensorial and otherworldly experience. Her most recent book Por culpa de una Flor bathes a melancholic theme in saturated colours, and is celebrated as a comics gem.
