Lecturers Gerda Dendooven (LUCA Ghent), Lukas Verstraete (LUCA Brussels), Martha Verschaffel (KASK), and Sam Vanbelle (Sint Lucas Antwerp) each selected the project that intrigued them most.
Jules Van Hees has a soft spot for strange stories that entertain as much as they resonate. Working with dip pen and Indian ink, occasionally joined by gouache and watercolour, he makes comics where the bizarre feels surprisingly familiar. His graduation project, Tiger Jochem or The Land of Everything, is an allegorical coming-of-age tale about a boy navigating a strange land in search of what masculinity might mean to him.
