Daphne Rosenthal is an artist-filmmaker whose work stands at the crossroads of experimental animation and puppetry. In her films Rosenthal gives materials a sense of agency, thus creating a zone where life seems to begin, possibly ends and starts anew. It is a playful search for possible meaning. Moods constantly emerge, develop and dissolve into their surroundings.

Rosenthal lives and works in Amsterdam (Gerrit Rietveld Academie – VAV – 2008) and has strong ties with Los Angeles (CalArts – MFA Experimental Animation – 2014). Her work has been shown in galleries and festivals internationally, such as Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, Hawick, Scotland – Quartier 21, Vienna – Nest, The Hague – Swedenborg Film Festival, London – Echo Park Film Center, Los Angeles – The Wende Museum, Culver City.
